The Lander Report - Market & Portfolio Insights

Written by Jerome Lander | 06 Dec, 2022

Welcome to the latest edition of The Lander Report.

In this detailed analysis by Dr Jerome Lander, you’ll hear the full story with compelling clarity, logic and insight.

Dr Jerome Lander’s key insights:

  • 2022 has been a year of change, action and bizarre events in the world and markets.
  • The US economy is holding up better than expected but is showing signs of weakness.
2023 is likely to see a recession in the US and many other world markets.
  • Inflation has been the fundamental problem in 2022, along with geopolitical tensions. Structural inflation remains a challenge and is likely to continue to be so this decade.
  • The 2020s are likely to continue to be a very different investment environment to the 2010s as we move from a disinflationary and low-interest rate environment to a sustained period of more volatile inflation and interest rate outcomes.
  • Dynamic Asset is responding with a different approach to portfolio management compared to the vast majority, with active management and more diversification. We’re relying less on financial assets and applying more significant weightings to commodities, including precious metals. Active management is coming into its own as the need and opportunity set for more diversified portfolios is much higher.
  • It’s time to manage portfolios differently. Many institutional investors and The Future Fund are now advocating this more than ever.
